About the Avon and
Ideal Theaters

The Avon Theater and The Ideal Playhouse are both located within one block of each other on Heber's historic Main Street. 

The Avon Movie Theater (est 1948) has a classic 1950's vibe and boasts nearly 400 seats in a theater with awesome sound and great picture quality.  Rumor has it that this place is actually the birth of surround sound! At the Avon movie theater, we typically show brand new Hollywood blockbusters! 

The Ideal Playhouse has been serving the community and attracting visitors as a movie theater and playhouse since 1914, which makes it one of the oldest working theaters in Utah. However, it was also recently renovated into a fancy, high-tech venue, while still preserving it's historic charm.  At the Ideal, we typically show retro movies, from "Star Wars" to "Casablanca" - movies that are meant to be enjoyed be in a real movie theater!

We also host "movie events" at both theaters, such as sing-a-longs, Q&A sessions, westerns, retro Disney, local movie premieres, epic nature films, film festivals (including Sundance), birthday and corporate events, family reunions, international cinema, and more!

We want to be your "home away from home"-- A gathering place for friends and families where everyone is greeted with a smile!  A place to meet each weekend and enjoy fun, memorable movie experiences like we used to... on a giant screen, with fantastic sound, and great snacks!
